A cameraman from Pivdenne TV channel was killed in the war

Andriy Androsovych, a cameraman of the TV channel "Hromada Television" from the city of Pivdennyi, Odesa region, died on December 18 in hospital from a serious injury received during a combat mission in Sumy region.

This was reported by the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine.

Andriy Androsovych was born on October 26, 1985 in Zhovti Vody. He received his secondary education at the educational complex No. 6 "Perspectiva". After that, he left his hometown and from 2007 until he was called up for military service lived in Yuzhnenska community in Odesa region (now the city of Pivdenne).

He worked as a videographer for a local TV channel. He came to the defense of Ukraine in the fall of 2022 and received the call sign "Operator". He served as an operator of the unmanned aerial vehicle unit. The deceased defender is survived by his parents Oleksandr and Alla, his grandmother Maria, who live in Zhovti Vody, as well as his wife Svitlana and two sons, Ilya and Mykhailo.

According to the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, as of November 29, 2024, since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the occupiers have killed at least 108 media workers. Among the dead are 18 media men and women who were performing their professional duties; nine media men and women who were civilian victims; 81 media representatives who mobilized to defend Ukraine in the ranks of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Earlier, on December 22, family and friends said goodbye to Yevhenia Dolbokliuy, a volunteer and author of the book "Girls at War. Dolboklyuy's Journey" by Evgeniya Dukhopelnikova, who died on December 17. Also on December 18, master of sports in athletics and Olympic participant Serhiy Olizarenko passed away. He was 70 years old.

Viktor Poprevych, a retired judge of the Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa, known for finding activist Serhii Sternenko guilty of kidnapping in February 2021, died on December 17.
