A musician and soldier from Odesa, Yuriy Melofon, was killed while performing a combat mission. He was 39 years old.

According to the singer Lavika (Lyubov Yunak), the defender died on December 2.

She noted that Yuriy not only served on the front line, but also helped people even in the most difficult moments. From the first days of the full-scale war, he was actively involved in volunteering, including delivering water to Mykolaiv.

"Yura was the first of all my friends to write to me and ask what I needed to volunteer for. He lived in Odesa and somehow got his act together very quickly, while I was recovering and in a stupor," the singer said.

Even before the war, Yuriy was known in the music community. Together with Lavika, he created remixes of popular tracks that became favorites of many listeners.

Later, he volunteered for the 35th Marines. Even while at the front, Yuriy did not stop volunteering. He supported initiatives, encouraged his fellow soldiers to sign important petitions, and helped raise funds for the army's needs. His last message was a greeting on the singer's birthday, after which he started another collection, which they managed to close together.

Yuriy is survived by his wife, son and numerous friends.

Vitaliy Markitan, assistant director of the Odesa theater, also died at the front. The man had been defending Ukraine since the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion.

Earlier, Mykola Kravtsunenko, a deputy of the Izmail City Council of the eighth convocation, was killed in action. He was the commander of an anti-tank platoon. He had experience in military service as part of the border troops on the border with Afghanistan in 1988-90. The soldier arrived this spring on his first vacation, during which he promised his sons he would return.
