Casey Michel 's book "American Kleptocracy" about the largest money laundering scheme in history was presented at the Odesa Regional Universal Scientific Library named after M. Hrushevsky.

The presentation was also attended by journalist, Intent editor, writer, co-founder of the Center for Public Investigations, an initiative of independent journalists from different regions of Ukraine, Yevhenia Henova.

In her book, Casey Michel tells us the story of a "family" that contributed to an extremely large corruption scheme that ruined Cleveland.

"One form of corruption can be a perfect circle, untainted by mutual distrust - a happy family, friends, or people united by other social ties who decide to bend the law a little bit and get a 'gift' on the occasion of some lavish 'holiday' that brought them all together," the book's description says.

Kleptocracy in America highlights the transformation of the United States into a global offshoring center. How states such as Delaware and Nevada have perfected the art of anonymous shell companies, and how the achievements of reformers after 9/11 have caused a new flow of illicit finance directly to the United States. How African despots and post-Soviet oligarchs came to dominate the American coast, industry, and entire cities and towns of the US Midwest. How dirty money began to infiltrate American universities, think tanks, and cultural centers. And how anti-corruption activists are trying to restore US leadership in this area and finally put an end to the reign of kleptocracy the American way.

Other speakers at the presentation were: Yevheniya Virlych, editor-in-chief, journalist, deputy head of the Anti-Corruption Headquarters, Yuriy Dzhyhyr, Ukrainian economist, statesman, founder of the Fisco NGO, and Ukrainian journalist, writer and civic activist Zoya Kazanzhy, moderator of the discussion.
