Emergency works started in Odesa on a high-rise building damaged by Russians

Municipal services have begun emergency repairs in the building at 2 Yaroslav Mudryi Avenue, which suffered from a Russian attack on May 1, 2025.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa municipality.

"To carry out the necessary measures, a specialized crane with a capacity of 250 tons will be used, which was previously ordered to work at this facility. All organizational and legal procedures have been completed: the relevant decisions of the Executive Committee and support at the session of the Odesa City Council have been received," the mayor's office said.

A massive drone attack on the night of May 1 damaged a 16-storey building in the Kyiv district of Odesa. In the building at 2 Yaroslav Mudryi Ave. 192 apartments were damaged, 205 windows were smashed.

During the inspection, specialized experts found significant damage to the building. The residents were informed and decided to evacuate. People with disabilities were evacuated by the Red Cross Odesa and the housing and communal services company.

One family was settled in the Center for Social and Psychological Assistance for Internally Displaced Persons and Victims of Armed Conflict (Center for Social Services of Odesa City Council), where they received humanitarian aid, hygiene kits, and food.

Russians launched a massive drone strike on Odesa on the night of May 1. The attack resulted in hits on residential buildings and the deaths of local residents. The strike killed two people and injured five others. The damage included high-rise buildings, private homes, a supermarket, a school, and cars. Fires broke out in some places. The school sustained minor damage, with four windows smashed.

The press service of Ukrzaliznytsia reported that a railroad worker was killed in his home during the attack in Odesa, and that one of the railroad sections was damaged: tracks, a contact network, and three freight cars were damaged.

The Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office has launched a war crime investigation into Russia's nighttime attack on Odesa. Two people were killed in the drone strike.
