The Hague has taken another step toward establishing an international compensation commission for Ukraine. The third preparatory meeting was held recently.

According to the president's website, the Ukrainian delegation presented its position on the future mechanism of compensation for damage caused by Russia's aggression.

Speaking online, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Iryna Mudra called for the process to be accelerated. She thanked the 43 countries and the EU that have already joined the Register of Damages, as well as the 12 new states that have joined at this stage.

The meeting discussed the previous experience of international compensation commissions, possible formats for creating a new structure and the second version of the founding document. Iryna Mudra emphasized that this is another important step towards launching the compensation mechanism.

Previous preparatory meetings were held in July and September 2024. The fourth meeting is scheduled for January 2025, after which official negotiations on the conclusion of an international agreement will begin.

The International Criminal Court field office has recently started working. Specialists of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union's Odesa reception office told about the activities of the International Criminal Court, its powers and capabilities.

The Odesa UHHRU public reception office provides legal aid to victims of war with the support of the USAID Ukraine Human Rights in Action Program, implemented by the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union.

Earlier, the Second Pre-Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for two officials of the Russian military's high command. They are Admiral Viktor Sokolov, Commander of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy, and Lieutenant General Sergei Kobylash, Commander of the Long-Range Aviation of the Russian Air Force.
