Farm in Mykolaiv region robbed after owner's death

The Chornomorsk community in Mykolaiv region has received back more than 16 hectares of agricultural land that fraudsters had managed to misappropriate.

According to the press service of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, after the death of the head of the farm, who was the sole owner, the fraudsters forged documents and registered themselves as new members of the farm.

Based on these forged data, they were able to illegally privatize three land plots of 5.5 hectares each. However, they had no right to do so, as they were not related to the late owner.

Moreover, they had never received land to set up a farm, and therefore under no circumstances had the right to privatize the land used by such a farm.

The prosecutor's office discovered the violation and filed a lawsuit to return the land to the community. The court agreed with the prosecutor's arguments and ruled to return the land to the ownership of the Chornomorsk community of Mykolaiv district.

Land scams are not uncommon in the region. Recently, the prosecutor's office found that the Koblevo village council had transferred a 0.12-hectare plot of land for gardening in the village of Koblevo into private ownership. Subsequently, this land plot changed hands several times. However, part of this plot is located on the territory of the state forest fund and the Black Sea beach area, which is prohibited by law. This became the basis for the prosecutor's lawsuit.

In addition, the head of the district administrative services center will be tried for fraud with land near the Black Sea. He faces up to six years in prison. The investigation found that in April 2024, the accused, acting as a state registrar of one of the village councils of Mykolaiv district, abused his powers to provide illegal benefits to third parties.

Law enforcement officers also served a notice of suspicion to the state registrar, who re-registered the community's land to third parties. He faces up to three years in prison. Without legal grounds, he registered in the state register the rights to real estate - a land plot in the Kobleve resort area on the Black Sea coast - for unauthorized persons, although it is owned by the Kobleve village council.
