In the spring of 2022, 46-year-old Yehor Kuzakov, a police officer from Nova Kakhovka, joined the Russian occupiers as a law enforcement officer. Already in June 2022, he headed the department for combating economic crimes in the illegally created police and participated in the torture and murder of abductees.

According to the Center for Investigative Journalism, in April 2022, Kuzakov agreed to cooperate with the enemy and took up the position of the so-called operative of the economic crime department of the occupation "Novokakhovka City Police Department." Together with other pseudo-law enforcement officers, he tortured illegally detained people with electric shocks and beat them to death with truncheons.

The court's verdict states that the interrogated witnesses pointed to Yegor Kuzakov's involvement in all these crimes. For the crime, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Chernivtsi found him guilty in absentia of collaboration and sentenced him to 13 years in prison with confiscation of property and deprived him of the right to hold public office for ten years. The court verdict has not yet entered into force.

Earlier, prosecutors identified an officer of the FSB regional office in the Tyumen region who participated in the illegal detention and torture of at least five civilians in Kherson. During the occupation of the city, the Russian National Guard held civilians in a temporary detention center and abused them. The detainees were forced to provide information of interest to the enemy, using physical and psychological violence, including torture. Later, the suspect was involved in these illegal actions.

In addition, law enforcement officers identified an employee of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs who interrogated and tortured a resident of Kherson during the occupation. The policeman first hit the illegally imprisoned man 30 times on the body with a rubber truncheon, then picked up a grinder and threatened to cut off his fingers and hands. After that, to intimidate the victim, the offender pointed a gun at him and simulated shooting him. Finally, the Russian attacker inflicted at least 15 more blows with a rubber baton and sent the man to the cell.
