In 2025, the Odesa region plans to increase the number of officially opened beaches to 40, provided that all of them pass the necessary checks and are safe for visitors.

The head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, said this in a telethon of the United News.

"I think the number should be somewhere around that, because last year it was about 20. But other businesses, other utilities have experience and already see how much it should be, and they are already preparing as well. I would like to see more, because people still go to the sea. And when this beach is tested, inspected, we then realize that they are safe. That this applies to most of the coast, and people will be safer when there are not 20 but 40 beaches that meet the standards," Kiper said.

According to the official, the decision to open the beaches will be made only after a comprehensive inspection and approval by the Armed Forces.

The head of the OVA also said that the city continues to strengthen security measures, particularly in crowded places. According to him, 2,660 shelters have been set up in Odesa.

"Almost all crowded places in Odesa are provided with shelters. The bigger issue is that people actually use them," emphasized Kiper.

Meanwhile, in Zatoka and Karolino-Buhaz, restrictions on civilians' stay there have been imposed due to constant shelling. In addition, owners of coastal buildings have to inspect the coast for explosive devices.

Last year, the beach season in Odesa region opened on June 8. There were 20 locations available for swimming, which were previously checked to ensure they met safety standards.

In 2023, the holiday season in Odesa region opened only in August. The situation in the region was extremely tense, in particular, due to the Russian terrorist attack on the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant.
