Japan Provides Road Cutter and Truck to Kherson for Reconstruction Efforts

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has provided a road cutter and a truck to the municipal enterprises of the Kherson City Council.

According to Roman Mrochko, head of the Kherson City Military Administration, the City Road Department utility company received a special-purpose machine - a Sakai ER555F-S road cutter. AndKhersonteploenergo received a truck with a manipulator.

The JapanInternational Cooperation Agency is a government agency that provides the bulk of official development assistance (ODA) from the Government of Japan.

"We are grateful to our Japanese partners and friends for constantly helping us to form the material and technical base for the reconstruction of the Kherson community," the official added.

Earlier, JICA, as part of the international technical assistance program under the Emergency Recovery Program (Phase 2), in accordance with the Grant Agreement between JICA and the Government of Ukraine, provided the city road department with 3 dump trucks, which are currently involved in ongoing work to eliminate the effects of enemy shelling, install gabions and improve the Kherson region.

The Government of Japan also provided Kherson with two new SONAROL SNR 210 tractors equipped with attachments, which are also being used to eliminate the effects of shelling, transport materials and carry out repairs in the city. In early December, Kherson received three trucks and spare parts from Japan worth approximately $766,036.

Prior to that, Japan handed over a Komatsu WB97S-5E0 universal all-wheel drive backhoe loader to the Kherson water utility. The excavator, adapted to work in difficult climatic and road conditions, performs a wide range of functions and is characterized by high maneuverability during operation.
