The Kherson region is considering switching to cash and voucher support for residents of settlements where possible.

According to the Kherson regional administration, this will allow people to choose the goods they need and at the same time support local businesses.

"This is a vital solution for communities where it is difficult or dangerous to deliver humanitarian supplies," the administration said.

The possibility of introducing vouchers was discussed during a meeting of representatives of the UN, international humanitarian organizations, regional and city military administrations of Kherson.

The team of the Kherson CMA also presented detailed analytics on the state of the communities and the main areas of work to the partners. Key issues included economic support, demining, infrastructure projects, and new mechanisms for humanitarian assistance. Attention was paid to economic recovery. The participants discussed support for local farming, small business development, and job creation for internally displaced persons.

They also reviewed infrastructure projects, including the restoration of schools, hospitals, and administrative buildings, providing communities with safe drinking water, and building protective structures for educational institutions. The issue of using solar power plants to ensure a stable power supply to critical facilities was also discussed.

Another area of focus is demining. This requires additional technical equipment and resources, so cooperation with international partners remains extremely important.

"We are grateful to our partners for supporting initiatives aimed at the long-term recovery of Kherson region. The main goal is to shift the focus from emergency assistance to strategic solutions that will contribute to self-sufficiency and sustainable development of communities," said Oleh Kulakevych, Advisor to the Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration.
