In a resort area on the outskirts of Odesa near Chornomorka beach, illegal sewage discharges into a beam were discovered. It was polluted by both private households and businesses.
This was reported by the State Ecological Inspectorate of the Southwestern District.
They said that their experts, together with representatives of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Odesa City Council, conducted a survey of the coastal zone of Chornomorka Beach and the Chornomorskaya Gully. The goal is to identify sources of pollution and improve the ecological condition of this part of the coast.
In particular, they checked the area from Stara Lustdorfska Road to Zelena Balka and Zelena Hirka streets. The inspection revealed facts of unauthorized laying of household sewage pipes directly into the Chornomorskaya Balka.
The environmental inspectorate noted that unauthorized discharges are carried out by both private households and some enterprises. After that, employees of Municipal Roads began to eliminate illegal discharges by tamping pipes. In addition, experts of the environmental inspection took soil samples in the areas of pollution. They will be sent for laboratory testing to determine the level of pollution.
Last week in Odesa, the commission inspected the technical and sanitary condition of the Black Sea Beam on the section from the Old Lustdorf Road to the Chornomorka beach.
Earlier, Intent wrote that on one of Odesa's beaches, untreated sewage is flowing directly into the water through an emergency collector, polluting the Black Sea.
State inspectors also conducted a spot check of Odesa beaches for new cases of oil pollution. No pollution was found.
