The Mykolaiv region decided to create a developed port infrastructure, install alternative energy and build an agro-industrial complex.

The Commission for Housing, Capital Construction and Architecture considered amendments to the Mykolaiv Region Development Strategy for the period up to 2027.

According to Oleksandr Korolyov, Head of the Department of Economic Development and Regional Policy at Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, updating the regional strategy became necessary due to the adoption of the State Strategy for Regional Development for 2021-2027. Despite the complexity of the process, the working group, which included representatives of the authorities, communities, and experts from the USAID Hoverla project, managed to prepare the document within the six months allotted by law.

The main strategic goals of the updated strategy are:

The new areas of smart specialization of the region include the creation of a transport and logistics hub with a developed port infrastructure, the development of the "blue economy", alternative energy sources, and an innovative agricultural sector.

The meeting also discussed the connection of new alternative energy sources and possible consequences for consumers due to changes in tariff policy. The deputies initiated the preparation of an appeal to the Ministry with proposals to revise the tariff setting mechanism.

The updated development strategy will be considered at the 27th extraordinary session of the Mykolaiv Regional Council.

International partners of Mykolaiv region have recently offered to help rebuild infrastructure, promote economic development and provide financial support.

It is planned to raise UAH 1.5 billion to rebuild Mykolaiv region. The most common projects include the reconstruction of medical facilities, educational institutions, and water supply systems. In 2024, international partners continued to support the region, allocating more than three hundred million euros for its recovery and development.
