Residents of Mykolaiv are concerned about a spontaneous landfill that creates unbearable living conditions and threatens to cause a fire. They asked the city authorities to immediately solve the problem to avoid dangerous consequences.
This was reported by the Contact Center at Mykolaiv City Council.
Residents of the Velyka Korenyha neighborhood are raising the alarm about a spontaneous landfill that has formed in the yard at 16 Ukrainska Street.
According to them, one of the residents constantly accumulates plastic bottles, branches and other garbage, which creates unbearable living conditions. It becomes especially difficult in the warm season - it is impossible to open windows because of the stench, and plastic bottles start exploding due to solar heating. In addition, the landfill attracts rodents, including rats and mice, which poses an additional threat to human health.
Residents are most concerned that the landfill could cause a fire. They recall that in 2024, large-scale fires were already recorded in the area, during which the fire destroyed houses in entire neighborhoods. People are afraid that if the garbage catches fire, the flames will quickly spread to neighboring houses and cars.
The residents appealed to the city authorities through the Rapid Response Service to take immediate action before a disaster occurs. Their appeal was registered and they promised to solve the problem.
Residents of one of the residential complexes also raised the alarm about packs of stray dogs that behave aggressively and attack both people and pets. According to local residents, the situation is worsening due to the uncontrolled breeding of animals and their regular feeding, which contributes to the population growth.
Recently, people have complained about the quality of the tap water. The water has an artificial color, which raises doubts about its safety for use. According to residents, the water has an unnatural color, which raises doubts about its safety and suitability for use.
In total, the city council's contact center received nearly 2,000 calls from citizens last year. Thanks to the citizens' activity, a number of important issues in the areas of water supply, landscaping and other public services were resolved. However, the residents emphasize that many problems remain urgent and their solution requires a prompt response from the authorities.
