Starting March 1, tram and trolleybus fares will be raised in Mykolaiv. A one-time ticket from the driver will cost UAH 10, and when paying via QR code or at a kiosk - UAH 8.

Yuriy Smetana, director of Mykolaivelectrotrans, told this in a comment to MikVista.

Currently, a ticket in the city's electric transport costs UAH 8 in cash and UAH 7 for non-cash payments.

The cost of travel tickets will also increase:

According to Yuriy Smetana, the changes are due to the company's rising costs, an increase in the number of routes, an increase in staff, and higher electricity prices.

"The fare will increase to UAH 10 when buying a paper ticket. If you pay via QR code, the cost will increase by only 1 hryvnia to 8 hryvnia. This will allow us to gradually abandon cash, which will increase road safety and reduce the burden on drivers," explained Yuriy Smetana.

Despite the increase in price, the head of the company emphasizes that the new tariffs will not be able to fully cover the costs of Mykolaivelectrotrans. However, this will ensure stable operation of the transport and its development in the future.

Recently, Yuriy Smetana said that the company's total losses have already exceeded UAH 180 million, and the amount is approaching UAH 200 million.

In addition, the city of Mykolaiv has decided to expand the network of city electric transport routes. According to the changes, there will be a new trolleybus route No. 8 connecting Budivelnykiv Street with the Matviyivka neighborhood. The length of the route is 27 kilometers and the full circle length is 49 kilometers.
