Odesa artist Stanislav Zhalobniuk presented a painting from the Ukraine series to the Vasyl Krychevsky Poltava Museum of Local Lore.

This was reported by the museum's press service.

The painting depicts ruddy bread, which in Ukrainian traditional culture has long been perceived not only as a staple food but also as a sacred value.

"For a long time, Ukraine has been called the breadbasket of Europe, a country whose grain feeds many countries around the world. It has become relevant to check "friend or foe" with the word "loaf," the museum noted.

The work is deliberately placed under glass, with a scope in the center.

"As the viewer plunges deeper into the image, he or she feels a certain duality, because not only the bread, but also the viewer can be a target. In a global sense, Ukraine and Ukrainians are the bread (value, resource) that the enemy's eye is pointing at. There are many meanings," the local historians explained.

Stanislav Zhalobniuk works in various areas of contemporary art: abstractionism, futurism, suprematism, expressionism, etc.

In January 2025, a solo exhibition of Odesa-based artist Stas Zhalobniuk, Radiation, opened at the Khmelnytskyi Regional Art Museum. The project was presented by the Khmelnytskyi museum together with the Odesa National Art Museum.

The main theme in Stas Zhalobniuk's painting is the road. Despite his constant self-improvement and work on various series, he has been appealing to it for more than ten years in a row. The main characters of these paintings are trucks, which in recent years have become almost the only source of transportation of the most necessary goods for life.

The artist was born and raised in Odesa.
