Odesa is planning to restore power to critical infrastructure by the end of the day, which will allow boiler houses to start up and gradually return heat to the homes of the city's residents.

According to Anna Pozdnyakova, Director of Odesa City Heat Supply, DTEK Odesa Power Grids is working to restore power and the heat supply will be restored for another 24 hours.

According to her, the risk of accidents has been significantly reduced due to the prompt drainage of the coolant, which will help avoid damage to pipelines and additional repair costs.

"The situation is under control, the utilities are working in an enhanced mode, and the threat of massive pipe bursts has been minimized," Pozdnyakova said.

The official noted that small boiler houses in Odesa are now equipped with generators, but large facilities are still without electricity. The construction of distributed generation is underway to ensure their stable operation.

The city has already received four of the nine power plants, which have been installed on the foundations, but their launch is delayed due to the lack of necessary equipment. The components are expected to arrive soon from UNDP Ukraine's partners in Ukraine.

On February 19, Odesa and its suburbs were attacked by Russian drones. Four people were injured in the strikes, and emergency power outages were introduced in some areas. Critical infrastructure is currently running on generators, and "resilience centers" have been opened to support residents.

The city's hospitals, clinics and social infrastructure also sustained significant damage. In particular, a children's clinic and a kindergarten were damaged.

On February 13, around 18:10, Russia launched a missile attack on a port infrastructure facility in Odesa. It has been preliminarily established that the attack was carried out by an Iskander-M ballistic missile.
