Preparations for the opening of the beach season are underway in Odesa region. This year, the authorities plan to open 48 beaches for vacationers.

This became known during a meeting of the Standing Committee on Emergency Situations and Elimination of Their Consequences, Ecology and Digital Transformation.

According to local authorities, the necessary measures to inspect and equip beach areas have already begun.

"At present, there is an order from the head of the regional military administration, an order from the head of the district administration, so the preparatory season for recreation has begun. As of now, 48 beach areas are ready to open this season," the commission said.

The conditions are mandatory: a diving survey, the availability of shelters or relevant contracts, and all the activities that are planned, prescribed in the order, must be fulfilled. Then a decision was made that it was expedient.

In addition to the diving survey of the bottom, the beaches are also being checked for fuel oil stains that spread across the Black Sea after the Russian tanker accidents.

On March 27, Odesa hosted a meeting of the city commission on technogenic and environmental safety and emergencies, which addressed the issue of coastal pollution by oil residues.

Last year, the beach season in Odesa region opened on June 8. There were 20 locations available for swimming, which were previously checked to ensure they met safety standards.

In 2023, the holiday season in Odesa region opened only in August. The situation in the region was extremely tense, in particular, due to the Russian terrorist attack on the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant. It was extremely dangerous to swim in the sea at that time. But the local authorities still decided that people should have a rest on the seashore, so they allowed the velvet season. Only six beaches were officially opened in Odesa.
