Odesa Region Sees 696 Company Relocations Amid Economic Changes

In 2024, 696 companies changed their addresses in Odesa region, ranking the region sixth in Ukraine and first among the southern regions.

According to Opendatabot analysts, a total of 11,833 companies changed their legal addresses in 2024, according to the Unified State Register.

In Mykolaiv and Kherson regions, 289 and 113 companies moved, respectively.

Most of them are engaged in wholesale trade and construction. Kyiv became the leader in terms of registered and discharged businesses, with almost the same number of companies relocating here and there last year.

Relocations of companies due to the war decreased by 18% in 2024. It is also 25% less than before the full-scale invasion. Most businesses left Kyiv - 36.6% or 4 thousand companies. Another 10% each left Kyiv and Dnipro regions.

At the same time, the same regions are the most popular places for business relocation. 28% of companies registered in Kyiv. Another 11% relocated to Kyiv region, and 10% to Dnipropetrovs'k region.

Meanwhile, the number of raider cases in Ukraine decreased by 11% over the year, but the number of complaints from businesses increased. According to analysts, in 2024, 323 criminal proceedings on raiding were recorded in Ukraine, which is 11% less than in 2023 and 1.8 times less than in 2021. Most of these cases are cases of document forgery, accounting for 74% of the total.

Also, most of the companies that got rid of the Russian trace are registered in Kyiv - 47 or 50.5% of all such companies, and in Odesa region there are eight such companies (8.6%), which brings the region to second place.

Earlier, Odesa region was among the top three regions of Ukraine where foreign nationals were most active in starting a business in 2024. According to the Unified State Register, more than 1,100 new companies with foreign owners were registered in Ukraine last year. This is 24.2% less than in 2023 and 60% less than in 2021. Most of these businesses were opened in Kyiv (542 companies, 48.9%), Lviv (137 companies, 12.4%), and Odesa (122 companies, 11%).
