A resident of Odesa region will be tried for organizing arson attacks on military vehicles in Mykolaiv, which he ordered for a monetary reward. The offender is being held without bail and faces up to eight years in prison.

This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The investigation found that the man agreed to the customer's offer to set fire to military vehicles in Mykolaiv for money in an online messenger. To accomplish this task, he engaged two acquaintances, provided them with instructions on which vehicle to set on fire, and demanded that the incident be recorded on video.

In July 2024, using a flammable mixture, the perpetrators, who have also been indicted in court, set fire to the car of an Armed Forces serviceman. The offender is currently being held in custody without the possibility of bail.

Prosecutors of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office submitted to the court an indictment against a 35-year-old resident of Odesa region, previously convicted, on the fact of obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special period, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy (Part 2 of Art. 28, Part 1 of Art. 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the SBU Office in Mykolaiv region. He faces a sentence of five to eight years in prison.

Also in Mykolaiv, the term of detention was extended for a man who set fire to military vehicles, recorded it on video and passed the reports to the enemy. According to law enforcement, the accused and his accomplices received information about the location of the military vehicles in advance. They prepared to set fire to a Nissan Terrano, a Mitsubishi Shogun and an armored Toyota Land Cruiser.

Last December, a minor was sentenced to five years in prison for sabotage in Voznesensk. He set fire to a relay cabinet at a railway station, which he carried out together with accomplices for a reward of $1,000.

Earlier, in one of the villages of Mykolaiv region, two 16-year-old teenagers set fire to a police car on the instructions of an unknown supervisor. They received instructions via a messenger, and the customer later disappeared. Now they face up to 10 years in prison.
