The court found a 19-year-old Odesa resident guilty of high treason and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, prosecutors proved in court that the convict, looking for quick money on Telegram channels, was recruited by an employee of the Russian Federal Security Service in the spring of 2024.
In turn, the Security Service of Ukraine reported that at first the agent was supposed to perform hostile tasks in Odesa, and later he was sent to Zhytomyr. There, he rented an apartment near a military unit to find out the time intervals of the highest concentration of personnel and equipment at the facility.
The enemy planned to use this data to inflict maximum damage during an air strike on the military base. The SBU officers disrupted the occupants' plans by exposing the agent at the initial stage of his reconnaissance activities.
After securing the locations of the Defense Forces and documenting the crimes, the traitor was detained red-handed in June 2024, when he was spying near a sensitive facility. A phone with evidence of working for the enemy was seized from the detainee.
Earlier, a former paramedic from Odesa was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property for high treason. After being recruited, the agent collected coordinates for air strikes on one of the region's port cities. Among the main targets of the enemy were the basing points of personnel and ships of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
The Security Service of Ukraine reported the detention in Odesa region of another agent of the Russian Federal Security Service who was adjusting missile and drone strikes on one of the region's port cities.
In April, a court in Odesa region found the former deputy head of the center for work with personnel of the Center for Operational (Combat) Support of the Ukrainian Navy guilty of high treason and desertion.
