An employee of the district TCC and JV died in Odesa region. The military enlistment office denied the information about a drug overdose. The cause of death was cerebral edema as a result of the injury.
This was reported by the Odesa Regional Center for Recruitment and Social Support (RC&S).
According to them, a soldier of the 2nd division of the Izmail RTCS died. According to a medical report, the cause of death was cerebral edema, which arose as a long-term consequence of a previously received, unspecified head injury.
The military enlistment office claims that the deceased had been in combat and was transferred to a rear unit after being wounded due to his health condition.
Instead, the CCC and JV are concerned about the dissemination of inaccurate information about the circumstances of the death in some media. The center emphasizes that some publications contain unconfirmed versions of events without verifying the facts and requesting comments, which discredits not only the personality of the deceased but also the work of the institution as a whole.
"Such actions distort the public perception of the work of the TCC and the JV, which in times of war fulfill a crucial mission of supporting the country's defense capability," the official statement said.
The center called on the journalistic community to adhere to professional ethics, verify information, and on citizens to show restraint and respect for the memory of the dead and for the military.
The information about the death of the employee from an alleged "overdose" was published by Besarabia Inform, citing its own sources.
The media wrote that on April 7, around 13:00, the soldier was taken to the hospital with signs of a heart attack. However, during first aid, it became known that the day before his health deteriorated, he had taken a drug, namely methadone. The doctors were unable to save the patient.
The media subsequently removed the article from the Ukrainian version of the website, but it is available on the Russian version.
