Lesya Ukrainka is one of the key figures of Ukrainian culture, whose memory is honored in different parts of the world: from Lviv to Kyiv, from Georgia to the United States. There are nearly 100 monuments and memorials dedicated to her in Ukraine and abroad.
Odesa still has only one memorial plaque, but the situation is changing: On April 16, 2025, a session of the Odesa City Council approved a site for a monument to Lesia Ukrainka in Odesa.
Why did it take so long to make this decision? What trace did Lesia Ukrainka leave in the history of Odesa and Ukraine? This is the topic of Intent's "Accent". Also in the traditional digest of Intent: shelling, personnel changes in the mayor's office and news from the SEC.
