A Russian army paratrooper was notified of suspicion for abusing civilians during the occupation of a village in Mykolaiv region. He forced people to perform forced labor and threatened one of the women with sexual violence.

This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office have notified the commander of the 6th Air Assault Company of the 108th Guards Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces of suspicion. He is accused of ill-treatment of civilians, violation of the laws and customs of war (parts 1, 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy.

The investigation established that during the occupation of one of the villages of the Pervomaisk community in Mykolaiv region, the suspect, along with other military personnel, forced three local residents - two women and a man - to perform forced labor. People were forced to work without proper rest, food and the ability to meet basic needs, causing them physical and moral suffering.

In addition, the Russian commander, threatening with weapons, exerted psychological pressure on one of the women and threatened her with sexual violence. The investigation is being conducted by the SBU in Mykolaiv region.

Law enforcement also identified another Russian serviceman involved in the abuse of a resident of the Snihuriv community during the occupation. He faces up to 12 years in prison. According to the investigation, in May 2022, during the temporary occupation of a village in the Bashtanka district, the suspect, along with other Russian military personnel, abducted a 52-year-old woman to obtain information from her about local men serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In addition, Kherson police investigators served a notice of suspicion on a Russian law enforcement officer who participated in the illegal detention and imprisonment of a Kherson civilian. According to the investigation, during the occupation, he accompanied civilians to places of detention where they were tortured. The man was held in harsh conditions: without ventilation, with a minimum amount of food, which was given only once a day. He was forbidden to maintain hygiene, was not provided with medical care, and died five days after his detention.
