Russian propagandist Kiselyov promised to return Kherson and was suspected

(COLLAGE: AI)

Dmitriy Kiselyov, a Russian propagandist, was served with a notice of suspicion for calling for the overthrow of the government in Ukraine, the return of Kherson and justification of Russia's armed aggression. The investigation believes that his activities contributed to the mobilization of resources for the war, which led to thousands of civilian casualties.

This is evidenced by the suspicion of the Prosecutor General's Office.

The Security Service of Ukraine has served a notice of suspicion to Russian propagandist, journalist and TV presenter Dmitry Kiselyov. He was accused of publicly calling for the violent overthrow of the constitutional order and the seizure of state power in Ukraine (Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that even before February 19, 2014, the top military and political leadership of the Russian Federation involved Kiselyov in the implementation of a plan to spread propaganda both in Russia and in Ukraine and other countries. For this purpose, Kiselyov used his own authority in the leading Russian media, as well as the authority of a TV presenter.

Through his program, Kiselyov has been broadcasting narratives for years designed to justify Russia's aggression against Ukraine, discredit the Ukrainian authorities and form a false opinion among the audience about the legitimacy of the armed invasion. In particular, he promoted the "one nation" thesis, accused Ukraine of reviving Nazism, called for "denazification" and proposed to introduce the death penalty in the occupied territories.

The propagandist openly endorsed the destruction of Ukraine's infrastructure and justified the massacres of Ukrainian military and civilians.

In his statements, Kiselyov openly supported the occupation of Ukrainian territories and justified the actions of the Russian army. In particular, commenting on the retreat of Russian troops from the right-bank part of Kherson in 2022, he stated: "We will get Kherson back! The retreat beyond the Dnipro is tactical in nature."

Kiselyov claimed that the Russian military had allegedly evacuated more than 100,000 people from the Kherson region without losing a single soldier or equipment.

The propagandist was also notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - repeated justification and recognition of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine, as well as the temporary occupation of part of Ukrainian territories, using the media.

Kiselyov is under sanctions from the European Union, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, and Ukraine for propagandizing war.

The Crimean resident, who called himself a political consultant, also publicly disseminated Russian propaganda narratives. He justified the full-scale invasion and claimed that Crimean residents had voluntarily chosen to join the Russian Federation.
