School principal in Kherson region forced children to sing the Russian anthem

The former director of a lyceum in Kakhovka district, Kherson region, was engaged in propaganda and helped to implement Russian standards in education.

According to the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, she was notified in absentia of being suspected of collaboration.

The investigation found that during the occupation of the region, the suspect voluntarily cooperated with the Russian invaders. Since April 2023, she has headed an illegally created educational institution on the basis of the seized Rubanivska school in Kakhovka district.

The former principal organized the educational process according to Russian standards, introduced the teaching of disciplines in Russian, and introduced a pass regime to the school with the participation of the Russian military. She also conducted propaganda activities, forcing students and staff to sing the Russian national anthem every morning.

She is charged under Part 3 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It provides for correctional labor for up to 2 years, or imprisonment for up to 6 months, or imprisonment for up to 3 years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of 10 to 15 years.

In addition, law enforcement officers served a notice of suspicion to a professor at a local university in Kherson who organized the training of students according to Russian standards. Currently, the professor is hiding in the temporarily occupied territory, so she was served the suspicion in absentia.

Also in the dock was an educator from Kherson region who headed a department in the occupation "ministry of education."

Meanwhile, a resident of Kherson was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property for voluntarily taking a position in an illegal body created by the occupiers. The woman worked as an "expert" in the so-called "Expert Forensic Center" controlled by the Russian occupation administration.
