The members of the Standing Committee on Social Policy and Labor of the Odesa City Council have agreed to submit the issue of changes to the city program "Barrier-Free Odesa" for consideration at an extraordinary session.
According to Olena Kitayska, Director of the Department of Labor and Social Policy, at a meeting of the commission on May 12, the issue is about allocating UAH 2.5 million to develop design and estimate documentation for the Dolphin beach.
According to Yurii Piskun, Head of the Department of Engineering Protection of the City Territory and Coastal Development, , the beach areas in question are currently on the balance sheet of the department, so it will be possible to hold the necessary tender and start developing the project soon after the deputies approve the changes to the program.
Earlier, Odesa decided to expand the Dolphin beach areas and create special infrastructure for people with disabilities. The Department of Engineering Protection of the City Territory and Coastal Development was officially appointed as the customer for the design and reconstruction of this beach. As Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov explained, the main goal of the project is to create an accessible space for all categories of citizens, including people with disabilities and veterans.
On May 13, the Odesa City Council is scheduled to hold an extraordinary session. The meeting starts at 10:00. Intent will traditionally broadcast the session online. Meanwhile, preparations for the session are underway. In particular, meetings of permanent deputy commissions are taking place to consider issues that may be submitted to the deputies for consideration at the session, and Intent is monitoring these meetings.
There are 12 standing committees in Odesa city council, but as of February 22, 2025, the standing committee on culture, tourism and international relations and the standing committee on regulations, deputy ethics and corruption prevention cannot make decisions, as they currently have less than three deputies.
During the last April session, Odesa city council members adopted many important decisions. In particular, they approved changes in the financing of school meals.
