Volodymyr Zelenskyy: Russia's attack on the system of international law began with the seizure of Crimea

The UN Charter is based on the respect of all states for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and right to determine their future, not on the fact that someone can decide to burn the lives of a neighboring people or deport them.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his speech at the Crimean Platform parliamentary summit.

"And now, when some leaders of states have gathered at Putin's summit in Kazan and when, in fact, their summit may be accompanied by the movement of military from North Korea closer to the front in Ukraine to the accompaniment of words about the alleged "prevention of tension," we still know that it is not the criminal who will win, not the one who destroys and deports, but the one who unites peoples on the basis of fundamental human values and the UN Charter," the Head of State said.

Zelenskyy presented the Victory Plan and called for advocating it in their countries and in conversations with partners. According to him, the implementation of the Plan will make it possible to force Russia to participate in the Peace Summit and see the full restoration of the goals and principles of the United Nations Charter.

"Today, on the International Day of the United Nations, it is especially important to say this. To say this when the goal for which the UN was created is not defended by the UN Security Council or even by UN officials, but by such formats of cooperation as the Crimean Platform or the Peace Summit. And I would like to remind the international bureaucracy and political leaders that today is UN Day all over the world, not somewhere in Kazan," the President emphasized.

This is the third parliamentary summit of the Crimean Platform held in the Latvian capital Riga. It was attended by more than 70 delegations from all over the world online and offline. The first parliamentary summit of the Crimean Platform was held in 2022 in Zagreb (Croatia), and the second one was held last year in Prague (Czech Republic).
