Women in Ukraine will be trained in "male" professions at the expense of the state, but there is a nuance

The war in Ukraine has exacerbated the shortage of workers, so the government has decided to expand opportunities for women.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the government has launched a project to train Ukrainian women in atypical professions that are usually dominated by men. The program provides free training in more than 30 specialties at the request of employers.

Upon completion of the courses, employers undertake to hire graduates. Among the professions available for training are tram driver, machine operator, milling machine operator, renewable energy system installer, etc.

Employment centers will pay for training up to UAH 30,280. If the cost of the courses exceeds this amount, the additional costs will be covered by the employer or the participant.

The Ministry of Economy is confident that this program will help fill staffing gaps while creating new opportunities for women in the labor market.

And in Mykolaiv, thanks to international partners, a new bus driver training course has already begun. The first 15 participants have expressed a desire to learn this profession. The training will last for three months, after which the students will take an exam and get an opportunity to be employed by Mykolaivpastrans. A scholarship of UAH 8 thousand is provided during the training.

Earlier, Mykolayivpastrans CEO Igor Kushnir said that the company had a shortage of bus drivers. According to him, one hundred more drivers are needed to operate all the buses in Mykolaiv. During the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army, the fleet of Mykolaivpastrans increased by 43 buses. The vehicles came from France, Germany, Poland, Norway, and the Czech Republic.
