A military man and a doctor were detained in Mykolaiv region for promising to grant a status of limited fitness for service. Both were taken into custody and face punishment for bribery.

This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office in the southern region.

In Mykolaiv region, a serviceman and a psychiatrist were caught trying to make money on fictitious treatment. In exchange for $3,500, they promised to organize a long hospital stay and help him obtain the status of being partially fit for service.

The soldier, who was undergoing treatment, asked his friend to extend his hospitalization and heard the price: 30 thousand hryvnias for a hospital bed and another 3.5 thousand dollars for the necessary documents. But instead of negotiating, the man reported it to law enforcement and acted under their control.

The suspect involved a military doctor in the deal. He transferred part of the money to her. On April 25, law enforcement officers recorded the transfer of a $2,000 bribe, of which $500 went to the psychiatrist. On April 29, he received another $500 for assistance in obtaining a referral for treatment and passing a military medical examination to determine his fitness for service.

Immediately after the money was transferred, both participants in the scheme were detained. They were notified of suspicion, and the court imposed a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention with the possibility of bail.

Also in early May, two mobilization evasion schemes were uncovered in Mykolaiv. In one case, three residents of the Nechayan community cheated their friend out of $70,000 over a year and a half, promising "protection" from conscription - they were detained while handing over another bribe. In another case, the investigation found that a local resident, together with an employee of the RTC, extorted money from relatives of persons liable for military service; the case has already been referred to court.
