A solo exhibition by Ukrainian conceptualist Serhiy Anufriev titled "Age of Zeppelin" ("Victory Zeppelin") opened in Odesa at the Nesterenkogallery on 12 Nina Strokatoy Street.

An Intent correspondent who visited the exhibition talked about the meanings of the paintings.

One of the highlights of the exhibition was a cake in the form of a book with the title of the exhibition, which the audience ate.

At the opening ceremony, Sergey Anufriev, dressed in a Japanese women's kimono, called on the audience to surrender to their inner fantasies, associations and talents.

"I do not impose any specific content, this is a story about the inner world of a person, any person, the viewer does everything here," the artist explained.

In turn, art curator Kateryna Chalaya called not only to enjoy art but also to support artists financially.

"Artists have no place to live, nothing to eat, they devote themselves to art, but they cannot earn money. It is hard for them. Therefore, we need to create a special support fund for them," she emphasized.

The project of the exhibition is a charity project - they are raising money for DJI Mavic drones for the 154th Separate Mechanized Brigade, said gallery owner Victoria Nesterenko.

Serhiy also does not hide the fact that his son, Timofey Anufriev, is fighting for Ukraine in the ranks of the Russian Volunteer Corps.

As for the concept of the exhibition, the artist says that the viewer is given the opportunity to decide for himself what is happening here. "The interesting thing is that the viewer is provided with a set of forms, images and visual situations, as a "building kit" for the independent construction of meanings," Anufriev notes.

The exhibition consists of brightly colored paintings with acrylics and colored markers and philosophical texts about the problems of both contemporary art and society in general. Behind these works in the style of children's drawings are deep reflections.

For example, in a work with thoughts about freedom, the conceptualist offered the viewer the following options: "possibilities of choice", "imagined perspective", "miracle explained", "intention and irresistibility", "soaring awareness".

In this way, objective reality can be reconciled by the viewer, who eventually becomes a co-author of the work and the statement, multiplying its meanings. Instead of one work, we get as many as many people who see the work.

"The innovation is that here it is constructed in such a way as not to give a single and final answer to the viewer's question "What is this?". For the first time, the viewer is given the right and the technical conditions to answer this question themselves," the release says.

Nowadays, Serhiy is engaged in philosophical consultations, and he considers philosophy to be a real therapy.

It is worth noting that the works of the Ukrainian conceptualist are kept in the Pompidou Center (France), the Stedelijk Museum (Netherlands), the Zimmerli Art Museum (USA), and the Ludwig Museum (Germany).
