The 610th anniversary of the city was celebrated in Odesa

Social media, media, and communication clash over the question of how long to measure Odesa's age and how old the city really is.

Some historians and local historians insist that Odesa will turn 231 this year.

According to the latest historical data, on May 19, 2025, Odesa will turn 610 years old. The city was first mentioned in historical sources under the name Kochubei (Kochubii). Later, after the Turkish conquest, it was called Khadzhibey, and only then Odesa. In honor of this date, the city will host the five-day Odesa 610 festival on May 17-21, which will combine art, history, activism and support for the Armed Forces.
