Residents of Odesa region felt an earthquake from Romania for the second time in a week

The 4.2-magnitude earthquakes that occurred in Romania could be felt by residents of Izmail district in Odesa region after midnight on May 16 and 17.
This was reported by the Romanian National Institute for Research and Development of Earth Physics.
According to the institute, the tremors were recorded at 00:59:15 at a depth of 131.9 kilometers. The earthquake was rated as medium. It occurred in the Vrancea zone near the following cities: 53 kilometers south of Buzau, 57 kilometers from the city of Focsani, 64 kilometers from Sfiantu-Gheorghe, 68 kilometers from Brasov, 76 kilometers from Ploiesti.
This is the second earthquake in the last week. The first one was recorded on May 11 at 21:34, when the 4.6-magnitude tremor occurred in the Vranca zone. The tremors occurred 49 kilometers west of the Romanian city of Focsani.
The seismic activity in the Vrancea zone is one of the highest in Europe, and this region regularly records medium and high magnitude tremors.
Also, on May 15, during a meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 occurred in Turkey. The tremors were felt in Ankara.
In the evening, on April 18, an earthquake also occurred in the Vranca seismic center. The tremors had a magnitude of 3.5. They could be felt by residents of Izmail district in Odesa region.
Prior to that, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6, which was felt in Odesa region, was recorded in the seismically active Vrancha zone (Romania) at 10:14 a.m. on March 24.
Before that, late in the evening of February 13, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 was also recorded in the seismically active Vranca zone (Romania).
On August 6, at about 4 p.m., an earthquake also occurred in the Romanian seismic zone off Vrancha, which could be felt in the south of Odesa region.
