The landslide that has been observed for several years near the village of Sanzhiyka in Odesa district has continued to grow.

A new video of the destruction was published by the authors of the Zootopia channel.

The authors of the channel noted that since the beginning of the year, i.e. from January to April 2025, at least three landslides have occurred in this part of the coast.

According to the authors of the video, if we do not try to solve the problem now, landslides will begin to destroy nearby houses in two years.

Sanzhiyka is a small resort village located on the Black Sea coast, 35 kilometers from Odesa.

In 1792, a military post was founded on the Black Sea coast near the dangerous place where underwater currents from the Bosphorus and the Kerch Strait meet, consisting of a watchtower and a dugout where soldiers on duty were housed. To warn ships, nautical flags were hung on the tower during the day and lanterns at night.

In 1921, the Sanzhi lighthouse was founded, and the old building was built in 1956. In the area of the lighthouse, as a result of soil erosion, coastal collapses are frequent, and in late 2010, the new lighthouse building was moved further away from the coastline, which came too close to the lighthouse.

In June 2024, rescuers from the State Emergency Service pulled a 59-year-old man out from under a landslide in the village of Sanzhiika, Odesa Oblast.

Landslides are a negative natural phenomenon that has been accompanying the Odesa coast for almost two thousand years since the beginning of the development of these cities in antiquity. Experts count more than 250 landslides on the outskirts of Odesa only for the period from 1797 to the present (before 1797, there is practically no true information about landslides on the coast in the vicinity of Kochubiyevo - Khadzhibey).

In November 2017, a large-scale landslide in Chornomorsk began to move. A number of houses that had been on the same level as the others last year slid down the slope.

In February 2021, another landslide also occurred in Chornomorsk.
