On May 13, the Odesa City Council is scheduled to hold an extraordinary session. The meeting will start at 10:00.
The relevant announcement was published on the municipality's website.
The deputies will consider several important issues. In particular, they include amendments to the city target program "Unbreakable Odesa" for 2024-2026, adjustments to the budget of the city territorial community for 2025, as well as the transfer of new powers to the municipal enterprise "Heat Supply of Odesa" to act as a customer for the construction of municipal property.
Intent will traditionally broadcast the meeting online. Meanwhile, preparations for the session are underway. In particular, meetings of permanent deputy commissions are taking place to consider issues that may be submitted to the deputies for consideration at the sessions, and Intent monitors these meetings.
There are 12 standing committees in Odesa city council, but as of February 22, 2025, the standing committee on culture, tourism and international relations and the standing committee on regulations, deputy ethics and corruption prevention cannot make decisions, as they currently have less than three deputies.
During the last April session, Odesa city council members made many difficult decisions. In particular, they approved changes in the financing of school meals.
Intent has already written that the cost itself has not been changed, but only the meals for children of privileged categories will be separated from those who are not. This is being done because the state subvention for feeding children in the city is running out, and it is not allowed by law not to feed the privileged ones.
The deputies also decided to create two new departments. One is the Department of Urban Development and Land Relations. Another department will be for defense, mobilization and territorial security. They also allocated 60 million hryvnias from the city budget for the Odesa Heat Supply Utility.
