Mykolaiv has reallocated UAH 1.5 million from the territorial defense program to mobilization training. The funds will be used to purchase materials and pay for services under the city's security program.
The decision was made by members of the Executive Committee of Mykolaiv City Council.
The Executive Committee of the Mykolaiv City Council has decided to reallocate budget expenditures for 2025 within the already approved allocations. The funds were reallocated to implement the activities of the comprehensive program "Promoting Defense and Mobilization Preparedness of Mykolaiv for 2021-2025".
According to the decision, expenditures in the area of territorial defense were reduced:
- for the purchase of items, materials and equipment - by UAH 506 thousand
- for payment for services (except for utilities) - by UAH 1 million.
At the same time, funding for local mobilization training activities was increased by the same amount:
- UAH 506 thousand - for materials and equipment,
- UAH 1 million - for services.
Thus, the total amount of funding has not changed, but the emphasis has been redistributed from territorial defense to mobilization preparedness. The relevant changes to the budget schedule are to be made by the city council's finance department. According to the executive committee, this step was taken in view of martial law and on the basis of current budget legislation.
In 2024, the budget of the Mykolaiv City Territorial Community received UAH 419 million in additional subsidies to ensure the powers of local authorities in the territories affected by Russian aggression. And in 2025, Mykolaiv region allocated more than UAH 196 million to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine: military units, law enforcement agencies, and measures for terrorism defense and public security were financed. The purchases included drones, tablets, TVs, and charging stations for the military.
