A lyceum in the Kherson region plans to build a shelter to protect students and staff from shelling. The project worth almost UAH 57 million already has project documentation, but has not yet been funded.
This was reported by the Center for Public Investigations with reference to the DREAM ecosystem.
The Fedorivskyi Lyceum of the Dariia village council in Kherson district plans to build a civil defense facility. The project involves the construction of an 880-square-meter shelter that can accommodate up to 200 people.

According to the project description, the shelter will be completely submerged in the ground and will protect students, teachers, and technical staff in the event of emergencies such as shelling or natural disasters. At the same time, in peacetime, it can be used for household needs.
The construction became urgent due to the regular shelling of the Dariivka community: most educational institutions are damaged to varying degrees. Students from the villages of Dariivka and Ulianivka are brought to the Fedorivka lyceum by school bus. Since the lyceum in Dariivka was destroyed by shelling, the shelter in Fedorivka is to become a key element in the resumption of the full educational process.
The project already has approved design and estimate documentation, but needs full funding. The total cost of the project is almost UAH 56.9 million, and it will take 12 months to complete.

The project was initiated by Fedorivskyi Lyceum and commissioned by Dariivka Village Council.
In April, the Development Department of the Kherson Regional State Administration held a tender for the development of project documentation for construction. The contract for more than 400 thousand hryvnias was awarded to OptimaLine from Lutsk. According to YouControl, the company has not been involved in any journalistic investigations or criminal cases.
The radiation shelter in the Novofedorivka Lyceum of the Koblivka community has been undergoing repairs for two years. The work is carried out by a company whose services are often used by local authorities. The same company was previously at the center of a scandal due to flooding of the school's shelter after rain.
