Mykolaiv Ex-MP Mykola Zhuk Dies at 44 After Long Illness

Mykola Zhuk, a former MP from Mykolaiv, has died. He had been struggling with a serious illness for a long time and was waiting for a heart transplant in a Kyiv hospital, but he waited.

The news of his death was announced by public figure Fedir Levchenko.

"Mykolaiv ex-MP Mykola Zhuk has died after a long illness," he wrote.

He expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased.

Mykola Zhuk was 44 years old. He was born on November 26, 1979.

In 2006-2010, he was a deputy of the Mykolaiv Regional Council. He was the deputy head of the Mykolaiv regional organization of the Party of Regions.

In 2010, he was elected as a deputy of the Mykolaiv Regional Council from constituency No. 7 (Bereznehuvata district).

Since 2010, he has been the head of the Party of Regions faction in the Mykolaiv Regional Council and the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Department for Youth and Sports.

In the 2012 parliamentary elections, he was elected as a Member of Parliament of Ukraine from the Party of Regions in the single-member majoritarian constituency No. 129 (Mykolaiv region). He won the election with 48.04% of the vote.

He was the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Youth Policy, Family and Childhood of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Family, Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism. In July 2011, he became the President of Mykolaiv Municipal Basketball Club. He held this position until April 2015.

On April 16, the Consul General of Moldova in Odesa, Ion Chorny, died. He passed away due to illness.

Also in Odesa, a conservatory teacher and musician Natalia Buzanova died. Valeriy Hait, vice president of the World Club of Odessans and one of the co-founders of the Odesa Humorina, died on February 1.

On January 29, Tatiana Belova, a person who devoted her life to supporting national cultures and developing interethnic cooperation in the Odesa region, passed away.
