A resident of the village of Malokakhovka, who voluntarily agreed to take a position in an illegal government body created by the Russian invaders during the occupation of Kherson region, was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was sentenced in absentia because the accused is hiding in the temporarily occupied territory.
This is stated in the Unified Register of Court Decisions.
According to the investigation, the accused, knowing for certain about the occupation of his native village by Russian troops, realizing that this territory belongs to Ukraine, agreed in mid-September 2022 to head the so-called "Malokakhovka Territorial Department of the Kakhovka Military-Civilian Administration". In this pseudo-position, he organized the issuance of pensions, reception of citizens, control over the property of communal enterprises and facilitated the illegal"referendum".
The prosecutor insisted that his guilt was fully proven - the case file contains a video of the accused communicating with local residents as the head of the "territorial administration". At the same time, the defense insisted that the man acted under pressure from the occupiers and did not take the position voluntarily.
The Novovorontsov District Court of Kherson region found the man guilty under Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine(collaboration, holding a position in the occupation administration) and sentenced him to ten years in prison with confiscation of all property and deprivation of the right to hold positions in government for 15 years.
According to the Center for Investigative Journalism, the man in question is Roman Nazarov, born in 1988, known by the nickname "Mukha". Local residents said that Nazarov was an illiterate and arrogant man who was never respected in the village. Despite his dubious reputation, he received a "position" from the occupiers at the end of August 2022.
Before the war, Nazarov was a co-founder of the Grif civilian organization. When the Russians invaded the community, he began to seek a "position" with the mayor of Kakhovka, Pavlo Filipchuk. Due to the lack of people willing to work for the invaders, they found personnel even through advertisements in propaganda newspapers.
In 2023, Nazarov was also appointed a deputy of the occupation "council of mundeps" of the Kakhovka city community from the United Russia party.
