Taras Shevchenko, a young Odesa sculptor and author of several sculptures located in the Tuzly Estuaries National Nature Park, was killed in the fighting with the Russian occupiers.
This was reported by environmentalist and former head of the national park Ivan Rusev.
"A young, incredibly bright man, an outstanding sculptor of Ukrainian Bessarabia, has passed away. He was killed by the war, which he immediately went to defend the country together with his father Oleksandr when the racist invasion of our country invaded. A few years ago, a majestic pelican named Daedalus appeared at the Tuzly Amazon recreational area in the Tuzly Estuaries National Nature Park," the ecologist said.
According to him, in Soviet times, a part of the current national park was occupied by a military training ground, which left concrete bollards. The park staff decided to do something with them and found Taras Shevchenko, who made a monument to the Dalmatian pelican, which is considered a symbol of the National Park, on one of the bollards. The art object is made of plaster, the size of a real bird. Then the sculptor also made a Scythian woman and a groundhog.

Late in the evening of March 4, Russia struck at the critical infrastructure of Odesa. Part of the city was left without electricity, water and heat. Debris from the downed drones also damaged private homes in the suburbs of Odesa, causing fires. Firefighters from the State Emergency Service were working at the scene.
